International Women's Day 2021

This year for IWD we are called to challenge gender inequality. Across the world women are still not given the same equal opportunities as men.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) are working towards this, but there is still a long way to go.

Women are under represented in lots of areas including jobs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.)

Below are some inspirational videos of women who inspire me.

CAFOD Lenten Challenge

Throughout Lent, we have been challenged to walk every single day in solidarity with our global brothers and sisters who have to walk to access clean water.

'Safe water' is defined as having water within half an hour of your home. Some people are walking hours and hours daily to access water that is not always safe.

You can 'Walk for Water' by:
- Going on a 15 minute walk
- Doing 15 minutes of exercise in the house
- Or aiming for 10,000 steps a day
- Displaying a water droplet in your window
- Collecting money - every small change makes a big change!

You can track this on the EMPS CAFOD calendar below. Or you can track this in your own way!

Please share with your teachers any photos of your daily walks!

Global Learning

Global Learning investigates the interconnections between people and places around the world.
Pope Francis calls us to care for our 'Common Home' and our global brothers and sisters in his encyclical Laudato Si. You can watch this below.

Through Global Learning we also learn about the Sustainable Development Goals shown below.
