Weekly Message 24.6.22

Dear Parents/Carers,
This week in Nursery we are continuing our new topic, UNDER THE SEA with our story of the week, "The Fish Who Could Wish" by John Bush.
Click on the link below if you would like to listen to the book together.
Why not try asking your child some simple questions as you listen, e.g:
  • What musical instrument did he wish for?
  • Can you name the shapes he wished himself into?
  • What happened when he wished to ski?
  • What hapened at the end of the story?
After listening to this story we thought about different things we would wish for and we drew our own pictures to show our ideas.
In Phonics this week we have been continuing to listen for the initial sounds in words by exploring some alliteration to help us listen for the same sounds. We have been listening to silly sentences and working out which letter sound we could hear a lot of, e.g. "A big blue boat bobbing" and "A red rabbit running in the rain".
Maths this week has been all about sharing out sets of objects. We have been feeding the fish with counters and using our counting skills to check that everyone had the same.
We have also been practising our number recognition and counting skills with this song:

Please remember to send your child to Nursery with a sun hat and already wearing sun cream. Make sure we have spare clothes at Nursery as we will be enjoying lots of water play this term and may need to change your child.
Don't forget there is a Welcome meeting for  Parents and Carers whose children will be joining English Martyrs' Reception Class in September.
 Thursday 30th June 2022.

TIME: 9.15 to 10.45am Or 5.00 to 6.30pm

 VENUE: Key Stage 1 Hall

Have a lovely weekend.
Best Wishes,
Mrs Foster
