You will shortly receive a link by text with an invitation to make payment to the fund named ‘Y5 Barnard Castle’ (please note this is a different named account to the online lunch payments).  You can then make payments either in full or by instalments, whichever you prefer.

Year 5 - Summer Term Residential -
Barnard Castle, County Durham

 27th-29th June 22 (Class 1) & 29th June-1st July 22 (Class 2)

We are very pleased to announce that we will once again be working with WILDERNESS OUTDOOR EDUCATION in the summer term.

Following a very successful in-school camp for our Year 6 pupils, last year – we are excited to be able to offer our Year 5 pupils the opportunity to take part in a two night residential at their purpose build camp in County Durham.

This truly unique opportunity will provide our Year 5 children with an extremely memorable and hands on learning outdoor experience

The residential will take place:

 27th - 29th June (Class 1) and 29th June - 1st July (Class 2)

Children will get to experience an overnight campout, sleeping in specially made canvas bell tents, along with comfy camp beds and warm 4 season sleeping bags provided.

This will be an unforgettable retreat for our children to experience ‘sleeping under the stars’ whilst taking part in a busy programme of fun and exciting activities.  The residential is fully inclusive of all meals, including camp BBQ, cooking over an open campfire.

In order to reduce the cost of the trip, school will be subsiding the overall total using school funds to £100 per child (£80 if eligible for pupil premium) which covers transport, accommodation, food and all activities across the two days.

In the first instance we need to establish if you would be interested in your child attending this residential to get an idea of expected numbers.

Can you please therefore register your interest by email to office@emcps.co.uk stating your pupil’s name/class and stating :-

a)      I am interested in my child attending the two day residential

b) My child does want to attend this exciting opportunity.

(Please ensure you state the reason for your child not attending the residential on the email).

Please ensure you register your interest by email, no later than Friday 4th March, if we do not receive an email from you we will assume your child does not want to attend this residential and will not be included in the numbers.

Once we receive this information and the estimated numbers of pupils who would like to attend this trip we will then send you further information in relation to paying a deposit of £20, and how to make further additional payments which will all be online.

Please note school pays for the residential booking and transport costs in advance, therefore if you do book a place for child you have then made a firm commitment to paying for the trip in full.

Please note if your child does not take part in the residential they will be expected to attend school as normal on these two days.

A wide range of adventurous activities for children are of offer. From rock climbing on an ancient volcano, to crossing a lake on a raft built from scratch, archery and Kayaking. It is sure to be a busy program, with evenings taken up by range of fun activities, stargazing and slip and slide amongst the options.
